Six-time US Open winnner Serena Williams is heading towards her seventh triumph in US Open women’s final, in which she will play against 20th seed Naomi Osaka of Japan.
The ex-world no. 1 slowly returned to her formidable form, obviously becoming stronger and stronger with every round.
The disappointment due to the injury at Roland Gaross was replaced by an inspiring path to the final at Wimbledon, and now the 36-year-old has advanced to her 31st Grand Slam final and ninth US Open final.
Williams will face Naomi Osaka, who defeated her earlier in the year at the Miami Open. At 20, Osaka will be the youngest female finalist of the US Open after Caroline Wozniacki in 2009.
