Germany vs France, UEFA Nations League, September 6
The new major European football tournament kicks off on Thursday, September 6, with the match between current and former world champions – national teams of Germany and France.
Both Germany and France will play in League A of the new tournament, as they are among the most highly ranked teams on the continent. They will play in a group of three teams alongside Holland. The winners of the group will reach the semifinals, while the team that will take the last place in the group will be relegated to League B for the next edition.
All eyes will be on Joachim Low and his men after their disastrous performance at the World Cup this summer. The world champions of 2014 won only one of their group games and were eliminated at the first stage. Now they will strive to return to the victorious path as soon as possible.
Anyway, it’s the Germans who approach this match in the status of the favourites , despite their unimpressive last matches against Mexico and South Korea. France, on the other hand, won four consecutive games at the World Cup, including a victory over Argentina with a score of 4-3 in the 1/8 finals and the final match, in which the the Blues defeated Croatia 4-2.
